Vintage and Modern: French 18K Gold and Diamond, Moon & Star Earrings

This beautiful pair of French, blue enamel, gold and diamond earrings (circa 1950's) started off as a pair of cufflinks. We could not resist the small gold stars against the deep royal blue with a diamond moon at the center, reminiscent of the night sky.

The enamel panel is framed in gold and the theme is repeated with additional etched stars. We're calling them I'll give you the "Moon & Stars Earrings". 

To put it simply, enameling is the process of fusing a mixture of ground glass to metal through the application of high heat. It is a complicated process that requires great skill and training. A wide range of vivid colors can be created. Jewelers love the endless color possibilities and enjoy creating pieces that would not otherwise be possible through the use of colored gemstones alone. The French are well known for the quality of their enamel work.

• The enamel and gold panels are a little over 1/2 inch. 
• The earrings are comprised of gold, enamel, and a small diamond. 
• 18K gold posts have been added.
• 18k sold gold earring backs are included.

• The bar originally connecting the two panels of the cufflinks has the French Eagle Hallmark.

• The earrings are in very good vintage condition. There is a slight dull area on the back, where we have removed the cufflink connectors, which is imperceptible.
