Modern: Diamond and Ruby Ring, Half-Eternity Band

This exceptionally well-made ruby and diamond ring was one we could not pass up. The 18 kt. white gold band is set with almost 1/2 carat of round cut diamonds (G-H, color range and VS2 clarity, total carat weight .45 ct.) and one carat of princess cut rubies. The rubies are red and throw flashes of hot pink in the light.

While there are an abundance of channel set, eternity and half-eternity bands out there. We're quite picky about the ones we choose. Too often the stones are not well aligned or the color is either too pale or too dark, no vibrancy.

If you like the look of an eternity ring but not the feel, you will appreciate the fact that the gems wrap slightly more than half way around the finger giving you a very similar look. While this ring works well as a stacking ring or a wedding band, it does have enough fire and ice to be worn on its own.

• The ring has .45 carats (total weight) of G-H, VS2 round cut diamonds and 1 carat (total weight) of princess cut rubies, set in 18 kt. white gold.
• The ring is a US size 6 and can be sized up or down approximately 1 1/2 sizes (feel free to inquire). The depth is 2.35 mm. The height is 3.6 mm.
