This is an antique English, sterling silver collar necklace, beautifully made with intricate alternating links, orb edging and an oversized bolt ring fastener. It can be worn with the clasp in the back on its own or with the bolt-ring in the front in order to attach a large locket or pendant. The silver has a beautiful patina similar to aged platinum. A piece that looks quite similar to this one is shown on page 31 of “Victorian Jewelry” by Dawes and Davidov.
