Solid Silver Coffee Pot, English Hallmarks 1899, 9 1/4 inches
This gleaming beauty is an antique Chocolate Pot or Coffee Pot from the Victorian period in Sterling Silver. Did we say Sterling Silver? Actually, it's even finer. It is made in solid Britannia Silver which is more valuable than sterling as it has a higher percentage of silver (.958 rather than .925). More about Britannia Silver below. It is fully hallmarked for London 1899. It is a very special and unique piece. You won't find many from this period in this purity of silver.
The handle is at a 90 degree angle, which designates it as a chocolate pot. Use it for hot chocolate during the cold months and for coffee service at brunch or after dinner the rest of the year.
The piece comes professionally polished and cleaned (even on the inside) so it is ready for service.
Why we love it:
- Full of beautiful details that show it was finely made.
- The detail under the spout is reminiscent of stitching on a leather saddle.
- Although it was made over 100 years ago, it has clean, modern lines.
- A warm wood handle that has a English Country/Ralph Lauren look and feel.
How we would style it
-For Chocolate Service, for a modern approach pair with modern Versace Rosenthal porcelain beakers.
-For coffee service, espresso or sipping chocolate, pair it with a set of demitasse cups from Italy.
-For Fall and winter: colorful rich colors for fall in shades oranges, golds and reds. For Spring: pastels. Or mochas and golds for a dinner party.
Custom Storage Bag:
The chocolate pot comes with a very special storage bag that has been custom made and custom embroidered ("Chocolatière"). The bag is made from Pacific Silvercloth which is famous for its silver infused anti-tarnish cloth. Please note, do not wash the bag as it impacts the silver infused in the cloth. This storage bag makes owning sterling silver a pleasure. When you are done using your coffee pot simply put it back in the bag and this will keep the tarnish away and protect it from getting scratched.
